WHO WE ARE

HOW WE GOT STARTED…

In 2016, several members of the University of Delaware’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute got together to get the gist of just how valuable beekeeping is in the local environment. After researching and understanding the urgency, they were beyond inspired and knew that now is that time! We are a small, start-up organization hoping to grow our efforts to save our bee community.

OUR MISSION

We teach the art and science of beekeeping by ensuring the health of our hives and fostering an appreciation for the importance of bees and pollinators through education and community outreach.

WHAT WE DO

We teach -

The Lewes Beekeeping Club spoke to more than 40 children and their parents about the role honey bees play in pollinating vegetables and fruits we enjoy. The club makes presentations locally.

Central to our mission is teaching members about the art and science of beekeeping. Our weekly hive visits provide a living classroom for our members and guests.

We enjoy -

Members get to know one another through social activities, field trips, and other monthly club meetings. Each summer we enjoy the fruits of our labor as we extract, process, and share our honey.
